Budget Game PC - March 2015

The Hardware.Info Budget Game PC Advice has a balanced configuration for playing video games, without having to spend too much. The components have been selected to offer the best bang for your buck.

That means you cannot always expect the highest settings, resolution and frame rate, but at the same time you should be able to play all modern games in Full HD resolution without making huge concessions to either the image quality or your enjoyment of the game.

Cougar 600K Gaming Keyboard Review

Everyone wants performance from their peripherals. I beat on my tools daily as I want to squeeze every bit of performance out of them. What concerns me the most is the longevity of a tool, as I do not have time to deal with replacements or try to fix them. This applies to pretty much everything I use for work … Read more.

Griffin iTrip Aux & iTrip Bluetooth Review

Driving can be fun, stressful, annoying, and a lot of other emotions. Luckily, radios and CD players have been stock in vehicles for years. But as mobile devices increased in popularity, vehicle manufacturers weren’t ready to outfit their products with the latest technology. If you’re stuck without Bluetooth or USB in your vehicle, then iTrip Aux or iTrip Bluetooth may be what you’re looking for. iTrip Aux has a built-in Lightning connector for modern Apple devices, and iTrip Bluetooth provides a wireless interface for all mobile devices that support Bluetooth. iTrip Aux and iTrip Bluetooth both forward the audio they receive to any 3.5mm input, allowing most older vehicles to be outfitted with new connectivity options.

Hands-on review: Valve Steam Controller

A lot has changed since that first year, but despite every tweak, shuffle and re-hash Valve chief Gabe Newell and his team have come up with, the controller has remained every bit a peripheral worthy of the name Steam. The Steam Controller Valve showed at GDC 2014 featured a cluster of familiar, lettered buttons, as well as D-pad with four separate directional buttons. What has changed since then is the addition of a left thumbstick and two paddle buttons on the underside of the left and right wing. The vast majority of the controller's face is dominated by two circular pads, wired for haptic feedback. The left pad, inscribed with a d-pad, could be used for custom commands - calling in airstrikes in Battlefield, for example - while the right stick seems solely used for looking around. The paddle buttons located on the back of the controller, however, are at this point a complete mystery. They could just be another set of inputs, but the best guess is that they could serve as a set of programmable macro buttons used to quickly access a string of commands.Unreal Tournament, Strider and Broken AgeDuring a closed door demo at GDC 2015, I was able to play the pre-alpha version of the new Unreal Tournament using the controller.

Kingston HyperX Cloud II Headset Review

Overall, Kingston has created a great headset. Not only is the sound exceptionally good for the price range, I would suggest buying these for the headphones alone. The Microphone is just like an added bonus in my eyes. The Cloud II was very comfortable thanks to the memory foam padding. Not to mention the list of features that are great in itself. I can't say they aren't better products that do one of these things, but you will be hard pressed to find something that crosses platforms and has high multipurpose functions.

MSI GS30 Shadow with Gaming Dock Review

When we previewed the MSI GS30 Shadow and GamingDock at the end of 2014 we were blown away by the combination of Core i7-4870HQ CPU in the laptop and the desktop GTX 980 graphics card in the GamingDock. The concept of using an external dock to add proper gaming graphics to a thin and light laptop worked superbly well and we could hardly wait for the official release of the final package of hardware. We were also keen to learn the price as that has a major impact on the buying decision.

MyDigitalSSD OTG mSSD 512GB USB 3.0 Review

Pocket storage becomes faster and more affordable almost every day and once in a while something special comes along. One of those is the MyDigitalSSD OTG mSSD that I’m taking a closer look at today. The OTG mSSD connects through the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and comes with UASP support for proper SSD speeds.

The MyDigitalSSD OTG mSSD is a device that truly lives up to the USB 3.0 SSD hype with its transfer speeds of up to 465MB/s while reading and 450MB/s while writing. This tiny OTG drive is a powerhouse in compact form factor. But the pocket-sized wonder doesn’t stop there as the use of just the best of components reduce the waiting times and maximizes the bandwidth utilization, thus enabling faster and more efficient transfers while helping lower CPU utilization for extended battery life for on-the-go users.
