ADATA XPG SX6000: Benchmarking A $50 USD 128GB NVMe SSD

While solid-state drives have generally been quite reliable in recent years and even with all the benchmarking I put them through have had less than a handful fail out of dozens, whenever there's a bargain on NVMe SSDs, it's hard to resist. The speed of NVMe SSDs has generally been great and while it's not a key focus on Phoronix (and thus generally not receiving review samples of them), I upgrade some of the server room test systems when finding a deal. The latest is trying an ADATA XPG SX6000 NVMe SSD I managed to get for $49.99 USD.

Cherry MX Board 3.0 Review

The Cherry MX Board 3.0 is a minimalist keyboard for professionals offering low profile, thick ABS keycaps, large anti-slip pads, a key configuration tool, and dedicated media buttons. Despite a release in 2013, it remains relevant and is a good option for consideration in the $80 price range.

Corsair Carbide SPEC-OMEGA Review

The Carbide SPEC-OMEGA is the latest mid-tower case from Corsair, which offers plenty of interior space in order to build gaming systems. Furthermore there is also enough space for big all-in-one water coolers on the front and on the top. Apart from that, the Carbide SPEC-OMEGA features quite an aggressive design and rather edgy lines. The Corsair Carbide SPEC-OMEGA is available in three different color options for a price of 109 euro.

Enermax Ostrog ADV LED ATX Mid-Tower PC Case Review

Enermax is a name that every computer enthusiast knows. Back when I was growing up as a kid in early 2000, I had a purchased a pair of 350W Enermax power supplies as they were one of the premier brands one could buy at the time. These power supplies never died and lasted for almost ten years before I had to recycle these computers for becoming obsolete. It's a strange thing when I have personal memories of Enermax, but have never reviewed an Enermax product professionally.

Well today is the day that ends. It'll be very interesting to see the Enermax of today as I have the opportunity of sharing with you regarding my experiences of the Enermax Ostrog ADV LED ATX Mid-Tower PC Case.

Here Is The Best Of CES 2018

CES 2018 has come to a close, and so begins the arduous wait for some of the exciting devices we saw to come to market. The Consumer Electronic Show held in Las Vegas, NV is where companies come to tout new wares and announce upcoming products and technologies. While some of the cool tech that was shown leaves us with that "shut-up and take my money" feeling, it’s often not retail ready, with months of lead-time separating consumers from getting their hands on the cool tech we spied last week...

Noctua NF-F12 & NF-A14 Industrial PPC Fan Review

You might think that this type of fan would command a premium price, but the pricing is not bad for what you get. The NF-A14 can be found for around $30 and the NF-F12 can be found for around $25. As for the anti-vibration pad and mounts, the pads are around $6 per box of 16 and the mounts are around $8 per box of 20. Most people won't ever have a need for an industrial type of fan, but if you do, then these need to be on your list.

Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 & NH-L12S Low-Profile CPU Cooler Review

Standing at only 37mm tall with fan, the NH-L9a-AM4 L-Type low-profile cooler easily fits any slim case and its small footprint easily accommodates RAM and PCIe components, especially on AMD based mini-ITX motherboards with their near socket connectors. The NH-L12S L-Type low-profile cooler offers a slightly larger fin dissipation area, four heat-pipes, and with the new NF-A12x15 PWM fan you get better thermal performance potential.

Phison E8 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Preview

In 2018, Phison is looking to displace SATA even further. How does an M.2 NVMe SSD that offers at least double the performance of SATA for the same price sound to you? The E8 isn't designed to compete for any performance crown, it is designed compete for the value crown. E8 powered SSDs will deliver up to 3x the performance of typical SATA SSDs for around the same cost. Even though the E8 is only a Gen 3 x2-lane 4-channel controller that is very power efficient, it packs a big punch. In fact, the E8 cranks out enough performance to take on Intel's popular 600p series of value SSDs, and Western Digital's Black series, even though they are both Gen 3x 4-lane PCIe SSDs. We expect to see E8 powered SSDs hitting the market very soon under the usual brand names like MyDigitalDiscount, Corsair, Patriot, Kingston and many others. Additionally, the value proposition put forth by E8 controlled SSDs is sure to catch the eye of OEM's and we expect to see a large volume of E8 powered SSDs making their way into prebuilt systems and laptops. Phison is close partners with Toshiba and we expect to see most if not all E8 powered SSDs sporting Toshiba BiCS 3 flash arrays. Toshiba BiCS 3 is their third generation 64-layer 3D NAND Flash technology. BiCS will only come in TLC, there are no plans for MLC variants.

Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 1200W Platinum PSU Review

The TPG-1200F1FAP is based on a semi-digital platform that offers high performance and quiet operation. With a $220 street price, this unit achieves a value score that captures our attention. It's easy to see that Thermaltake really likes RGB lighting based on its power supply portfolio. Today, we're looking at the company's Toughpower Grand RGB 1200W Platinum (also known as the TPG-1200F1FAP). This PSU features a 140mm Riing fan sporting 256 colors. The fan's LED lighting supports five different modes: RGB cycle, solid red, solid green, solid blue, and solid white. You can also switch the lighting off (a blessing for anyone who doesn't want a flashy power supply). And thanks to built-in memory, the lighting doesn't have to be reconfigured every time your PC boots up.

Tt eSports Shock PRO RGB Review

Late 2017, now 2018, the Shock PRO RGB is available, and aside from the title feature (RGB LED lighting), there are some substantial changes to be seen. It features a low profile suspension headband, 25mm thick, earpad, onboard controls, and a discrete fold-down microphone. The aesthetics themselves are fairly subtle, elegant and more mature. Promising 'stunning sound' and long lasting comfort, what more could a gamer want from a £40 headset?
