DirectX 9.0c versus DirectX 8.1

This past weekend, my son installed DirectX 9. 0c on his PC only to find that none of his old games would run anymore. Note that he was running DirectX 8. 1 before DirectX 9. 0c was installed. There is no way, to my limited knowledge, other than re-imaging his machine, to un-install DirectX 9.

I've got a problem with the game. I just installed it on my Windows 2000 computer. It started up just fine, it wasn't even lagging! But every time I'm pulled into the first battle, when the opponent is halfway to attacking me, the game just closes.

Help with drive recovery!!!

HELP! I've just lost my primary slave drive (Western Digital 120GB) and I didn't have a backup for it yet. I've partitioned it but didn't format it back to NTFS yet. Is there a way to restore all the files on a hard drive after partitioning or formatting? Or reconstruct the files on another drive?.

Hi, i am new to the forum. I have windows xp installed with service pack 1a. When i try to access certain forums on the internet which i am a member of and press a link to a post, more often than not it will attempt to load the page in IE.

Okay, the mouse is not working.

Today we got a new wireless keyboard and mouse and went to install it. It is the Wireless Optical Mouse 2. 0. It came with a disk to install a program along. I was stupid and didn't read the directions and plugged in the devices before I installed the program.

Hi All, First off, the setup: MSI K7t 266 Pro v1. 0 A (MS-6380) Mouse: Logitech Optical Wireless USB Mouse. Behaviour: The Mouse starts up just fine and works, but after a certain period of time (about 5 to 10 minutes) it dies COMPLETELY, and windows reports a USB Device Not Found error.

I recently bought Might and Magic 6-8. I installed all of them and when I went to run them 7 was the only one that worked. When I run 6 it says (3. 3)C:\PROGRA~1\3DO\MIGHTA`2\mss32. dll: Pager initialisation error 2 - The sysstem cannot find the file specified.

I am looking for a shared resources (like conference rooms etc) program that is free or inexpensive for a business that has no plans to install Exhange. The only thing I found so far was CalendaX which runs with Plone, but that seems to take up to much resources for such a minor task.

Gentlemen, After a crash I reinstalled XP pro on my main video editing box. I have done this before, and once reinstalled, when I installed the drivers for my Fast Trak 100 card, my array would show up, and I would be able to access the data that was there.

Solution to SBLive! Crackling

Okay, this has to be the weirdest solution I've ever heard for the SBLive! crackling it was a suggestion I received from a little hole-in-the-wall-computer-shop's tech support. . . and it worked! One thing you have to understand about the SBLive! is that it doesn't like outputting high-volume line out signals.

Ok I patched the game to ver. 1. 30 and also downloaded the beta player for XP (v32tng. exe). The startup screen appears and everything seems to work fine, incl. speech and music. But after selecting New Game the game crashes.
