Best settings for Win2k pro with my config?

I have a celeron 300a@464, 192 megs of pc100, Abit BH6 rev 1. 01 (running QN bios), WD 8. 4 gig UDMA-33, Matrox G400 32 meg, SBlive Value, toshiba 6x dvd-rom drive, HP surestore 7200i, Supra express 56i ISA and other stuff.

when i 1st went on the net using my 56K 3com US robotics voice/fax modem using win2k, i thought i should connect atless at 49, 333bps where i used to when i had win98 but now i only connect at 49, 222.

ICQ and dual monitor

When running a dual monitor setup, is it possible to move ICQ to the second monitor ? Dragging it to the other monitor is not possible, because the edge of the main monitor is catching the ICQ window !

Tip: Disable hidden options

Everytime you click on Favorites or start, programs you get the little two arrow down at the bottom of the menu indicating there is more that is hidden. To disable that: Right click on taskbar, click Properties.

Hey quick question: How important is it to get the SP1 and install it, I have no problems on my Win2k right now that I'm aware of. I've just read many bad stories about SP installing and screwing up working things.

Here's my config: P3 700E, 128mb PC 100 RAM, geForce DDR, 7200rpm HDD, and Windows 2000 Pro I know that Windows 2000 isn't for gaming, but I didn't expect to get such low results on the 3dMark tests.

SP1 did not fix the sticky keys/buttons problem on my machines. Anyone else? The SP1 fix list has an item stating that a problem with mouse buttons sticking during fps games was fixed. The DLL they modified was dinput.

I just installed SP1 to my win2k, after that when I try to play CS I have this error: WARNING: UDP_opensocket: socket: NO ERRORNET ports: server 27015, client 27005 could not get TCP/IP address, TCP/IP disabled reason :WSAENOTSOCK could not get IPX address, IPX disabled reason :WSAENOTSOCK model is connecting 194.

Who Is actually having the same slow startup problems Im having? I think I fixed it by taking out the two problems that SBLIVE! puts in. Once i disabled them my live drive didnt work though ;( Also DIABLO 2 is still choppy ;(.

Ok. . . Asus K7V Athlon 750, Win2k, Nvidia card. I'm getting a crapload of errors, namely ntoskrnl. exe, and a few sysaudio. sys. It's not my memory, as I've reformatted several times in this past week, with new RAM.

I given up on any hope of being able to run games such as Ascendency under Win2k and I have installed Win98 on another partition. I have Win2k on disk 1 (all partitions are NTFS5) and Win98 on disk 2 first partition.

it seems that i usually get this error in ultima online and diablo2. it seems to be random. or at least i havent noticed a patern but it just started a while ago. i got a ram defrag program which didnt really seem to help much.

Tip: to save precious disk space on C: and speed up ur computer use a third party utility to remove dead links in ur registry. This is what i did using Cleansweep in win98 and it saved a HELL of a lot of spce on my old computer with 500Mb in c: (i saved around 25-30mb).

I figurate out why Win2K is for a minute busy at startup. I found what causes the delay. When the boot is over, everything is loaded and the user is ready to go, Win2K starts the System File Checker.
