Any Reason To use WinME?

I have talked to some people who said after some tweaking they were able to get Winme stablier than win98SE and faster as well. Can this be done? Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1. 01, 192 Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends.

Removal of SP1 Installation Backup Files?

Back in the Win95/98 days, there was an option to remove the backup files for pre-SP installations in the Add/Remove Programs area incase something went wrong. There is no option for the just release SP1 for Windows 2000.

vga to tv-out(S-video)?

I just got a new {Inno3d Tornado) GeForce2 MX with dual monitor support($55 including shipping). . and I was was wondering if I can get an adapter to go from one of the VGA ports to an svideo? It doesn't come with a native tv-out.

Windows2000 and ACPI

Is there any way to install Windows 2000 in ACPI-Mode? Windows 2000 thinks my mainboard (Biostar M6TLG) isn't acpi-compatible, but in Win98SE this mainboard supports ACPI. So I ask you: How can I install Windows 2000 with ACPI-Support???.

Ok, let me get this out of my system. Had a lan party, Kid installed office 10 on my machine w/o telling me. I found it and tied to get rid of it because it is illegal, yes i know it is illegal, i am stating that right now.

Fully integrated Socket 370 Celeron Motherboard?

Anyone know of any CHEAP motherboards that are fully integrated(sound, video), that use a a Socket370 Celeron2 in MicroATX form? I'm doing a little experiment, and want as much as possible to be incoprporated onto the motherboard.

yipiiekayeay. . updated bios booted hardlocked (coldboot only remedy) didnt post searched for reset bios pins. . didnt find took out cmos battery damaged battery case booted locked didnt work fuxx0red battery totally didnt find reciept going to buy another one today *crying* ;/.

Nvidia GForce 2 Video Card

I have an issue I can not figure out. Just bought a brand new PC w/ the Nvidia Geforce 2 MX AGP video card, when the PC first boots up and is going through it's Post sequence it returns a series of 3 beeps, then the screen stays black, the PC finishes booting, but no picture.

Removing things from sys tray

I was curious as to how you can remove things from the sys tray in win 2k. I know how to do it in 98 and Me, but its not quite the same. I know if you go into system information it will tell you what is starting up in the sys tray, but there isnt any way to remove the things from that list.

Locking a computer without seeing it's locked

Hi. . Anyone who know of a way of application that can lock a Windows 2000 workstation after ex. 10 mins, but not displaying any 'Computer is locked' or the likes, until a key og mouse is pressed. The idea is to have a computer showing networkstatus to everybody, but we want the computer to be locked.

2940U2W and SB Live! sound problems....

I'm using an Adaptec 2940U2W and SB Live! MP3+ on an Abit KA7. For the most part, things run smoothly. However, whenever I'm using any device on my scsi card and playing sound at the same time, a horrible static is generated.
