Cable internet, what's needed?

I am getting cable internet access in two weeks and needed to know what items I would need for it. First up my house has 3 computers right now, maybe more in the future. One is a server, and the others are workstations.

This goes out to all of you that are trying out XP. I know Win2k handles memory better than 98 or NT, what I want to know is, not the server version but the personal version of XP, if XP can utilize memory above 256.

Windows Whistler 2428 login error

Can anyone help. When i type my password to log in to whistler build 2428, i get an error as follows: Windows product activation something like a file cannot be loaded. Please run setup again. I did this twice but the error still occurs.

i dont know what i did wrong but now i am unable to use the new luna gui login screen. all i get is the normal nt/2000 style login. when i try to select it in the user accounts it wont stay. i click it, click ok, but when i go back its unchecked again.

I have installed the 56k voice internal PCI modem into my Windows 2000 system. The modem was successfully recognised and the drivers which were supplied were loaded. The modem is able to dial out. However the first 2 times I tried to dial my ISP it connected with reported rates of 28.

Hello, I have just finished installing windowsXP and am getting a error message when trying to logon to desktop from welcome screen. If i select myself or even guest logon i get error windows registration engine corrupt pls reinstall windows and i crash back to logon screen.

been having windows freeze up on me and ctrl-alt-del can't fix it, have to reboot. . . wonder if anybody has a fix? can't be cpu, it's at a cool 30C and it mainly locks up when i use explore,ie or oe.

i use my retail heatsink/fan for the duron 800mhz processor , and have a little fan that came on my mobo , and the power supply fan and thats it. The temp gets up to 122 C as its highest temp on the cpu which is in gaming and case temp 118 C tops is this bad should i have better cooling or just not worry about it a ...

When I restart W2K windows says DEVLDR. exe is not responding, and I have to end task, and sometimes my box shuts down and sometimes it doesnt, when it does it takes about 3 minutes. TIA Ned.

Occasionally when I boot up I get an svchost. exe error which terminates it. I check the event viewer and the error also kills Telephony, Network Connections, COM+ and various other services. I think I have linked the error to running Direct3D applications but I am not sure what to do about it.

new Via Busmaster drivers doesnt support RAID

The new Via Busmaster drivers does not support raid under win2k. I got two IBM 46Gigs 75GXP, no good. . you get LDM Errors when you try to partition them. I dont know about you others though. . For you who dont know what i'm talking about: SOFTWARE RAID! radx.

Can't get the boot uo screens and menus to work for this game in 2428 with Geforce2 MX and 6. 50 drivers. They are flashing and jumping so horrically that you can't make any choices to set up the games.

UT Frame Rate Seems To Be Slow

Help!!!! Since installing UT under WIN2K the frame rate feels like it is running slow. I get killed before I see the opposistion and I have a ping of 30. Also the mouse seems to be not as sensitive, running a Boomslang 2000 on USB.

i just spent money on a cambrige soundworks surround system. . . now i have it hooked up to my sblive platinum 5. 1. I am using the digial out on the back of the sblive card and i checked that box in the play control labled Digital out only.

I bought a new GeForce2 GTS the other day. didn't know much about itjust said reference board OEM, yada yada yada. Well, got it in the mail yesterday, threw it in, all is well(and gave 60fps more than my GeForce256 did in some apps).

NAT and routing

I had NAT up and running. Then I decided to swap out the LAN NIC. Now it doesn't work and I can't access NAT through the Routing and Remote Access snapin. My local computer has now got a big ol' red X on it in the snapin.
