dje007
If you have a Philips DVDRW208 You can ring them up and RMA 208 for the new 228 model I have and sent my old one back. They are doing this dew to the box having DVD+R when the unit will not write to DVD+R.

Blocking ports from the inside out

palladenx
Hope the subject wasn't too off. I'm looking for a solution that will block ALL outgoing and incoming SMTP (25) port activity. I tried modifying the TCP/IP filter settings under the network connection to allow only 21,80 and 443 on a Win2k box, but this only stops requests from the outside being blocked.

Dual-monitor gaming (ti4200)?

BanditXL
I bought myself a geforce4 ti4200. It's a fine card, but I can't get the dual-monitor thingie to work like I want to. I've seen some screenshots of games support dual-monitor like serious sam 2 and startrek armada 2 (or did I mistake it for Ati's radeon series??), but I can't get it to work like that.

NTFS Performance

NTFS under XP is jackin' my system up!!!!!!!!! File access is incredibly slow. Programs take forever to start up. The harddisk is banging around constantly. FAT32 seemed much much faster. Also 3d framerates have suffered.

Necessary or Just a War?

one_2_three
It seems more like an everyday battle to prove who has the best of the best when infact, it really is in your face. Not to mention that the best of the best is sometimes the dumbest move. No offense, but who needs that much graphic and that much sound in their faces? The human eye can only see so much and the human ...

I am about to purchase the new Abit IT7 board and run a P4 1. 8a processor. I am so used to P3's that I haven't kept up with the best cooling options for the P4. I am not planning on overclocking. Looking for stability in my computer.

Colin Mcrae 2 not smooth on windows 2000

rgodart
The above game doesn't run smooth in windows 2000. But it's not a frames per second problem, because i get a constant 50 FPS. It's just that at certain times the environment seems to move a little faster (a fraction of a second) and then goes back to normal speed.
