NET USE Return Code?

I've written a VB app that occasionally maps drives. Anybody know of a way to capture the failure of executing the NET USE command so that I may present an error message to the end user? It's possible that mapping the drive will fail, as when the drive is mapped the user is prompted for their domain password.

Text in italics...weird

I reboot after running my win2k system for about 3 days. Now text on websites (which don't specify text style) is in italics, same goes for the playlist in winamp and a couple other apps. I edit appearance in display options and it does not change anything.

Problems with all games

Can some1 help me. When I used to run XP, every game used to run fine. Reformatted yesterday and installed windows 2000 & Service Pack 2 and all my games will run for about 20 seconds, then just crash back to desktop.

Having purchased a new PC with Windows XP I'm having problems with two games both from Lego. I see that Creator is already listed as 'non-functional' with XP on this site though can anyone help with Lego Chess which also does not run.

Windows 2000 Random Reboot

I have got an AMD XP 1600 Processor with 128Mb DDR ram and an MSI motherboard. At random times the computer reboots itself. This has occured when i have been on the internet and has happened once when windows was starting up.

CD Burning Software Question

This may be a redundant question, but here goes. I've used EZCD in the past with mixed results. Never burned a coaster with it, but had an occasional application error with it (usually when I did too many mouse clicks on the SoundStream portion).

I just installed Media Player 9 for XP and I am experiencing some issues. When playing mpeg or avi files I cannot fast forward or seek thru a clip. Also when launching streaming video from a website media player crashes completely.

Messed up CD-ROM drive

My CD-ROM drive seems kind of messed up. It just won't open. I press the button to eject but it won't open. Then I restart it and it opens. Then the next day again it won't open. I restart the computer and it still won't open.

Any one esle struggled with Shogun Total War under XP? Am finding it launches and runs, but when I get into a battle it hangs and the mouse won't move, then after a delay (a long delay) it suddenly catches up.

I have installed win2k advanced server on a machine that I want to use as gateway/IIS/FTP server. I have isntalled IIS, FTP and NAT on it and it works just fine. But my question is: How do I get it secure? What firewall suits my needs? All the other computers on the network connects to the internet thruu this gateway.

Removing hidden partition on Compaq Presario HD

On a Bigfoot HD on a Compaq Presaro 5630 box the 12GB HD has a hidden partition for the backup of the system as delivered. Can this hidden partition be removed using Fdisk or Partition Magic? I want to re partition the whole drive to include the space used by this partition.
