64 Bit Windows 2000?

This is a discussion about 64 Bit Windows 2000? in the Windows Software category; Dear all, I have just read some news about Microsoft releasing a 64 BIT Windows 2000. Does this mean, that all present versions of windows 2000 shall be out of date or is the 64 BIT version just for developers At the moment I am running the 120 day trial version of Windows 2000 and so dont really wont to spend out ...

Dear all,
 
I have just read some news about Microsoft releasing a 64 BIT Windows 2000. Does this mean, that all present versions of windows 2000 shall be out of date or is the 64 BIT version just for developers
 
At the moment I am running the 120 day trial version of Windows 2000 and so dont really wont to spend out on Windows 2000 now if a new version is going to be released.
 
Please help!!!

64-bit Windows 2000 is for.... well.... 64-bit processors. In layman's terms, not for you. All pentiums, athlons, etc. are 32-bit. Intel's new Itanium processor will be 64-bit, and that is what the news releases are talking about.

The 64bit OS need a 64 CPU you can't buy one now maybe in next few yrs that if you got cash for it.

There was supposed to be there even an Digital Alpha cpu support for win64 which was dumped many months ago. With the lack of support by then Digital now Compaq, the platform choices for win64 are Pentium V?,
AMD x86 64, some else out there ?
