Assuming someone were to burn a CD for me with Win2k RC3, which might be available for download from certain FTP sites on the Net, and furthermore, assuming that this kind person called this CD “Win2k_R3” instead of “Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM,” and also assuming that the Win2k RC3 boot and installation disks call for a CD entitled “Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM,” would one, in any way, still be able to install Win2k RC3 should one only be in the possession of a CD call “Win2k_R3?”

I asked in the ‘hypothetical’ because if this were happening in real life, I’d probably be annoying some law enforcement agencies. However, for the sake of clarity, here it is in the plainest English:
I downloaded Win2K RC3 Pro. (.cab files and 1 executable). Someone was kind enough to burn it to CD for me (not a boot-CD). I made the four boot-floppies (another .exe download) to install the OS. However, the person who burned the CD named it "Win2k_R3" instead of "Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM", but the boot-floppy installation procedure calls for a CD with the latter name (rather than what my CD is named) and won't let me proceed with the installation. Getting the CD reburned with the proper name is currently not an option.
Question(s):
1) Can I still somehow complete the installation with this mis-named CD?
2) If 'No' to (1), can I somehow do a dual-boot install on my NT machine with this ill-named CD?
3) If 'No' again, can I use the files on the CD to upgrade Win2K Beta3 to Win2K RC3, as I still have the original Beta3 CD from this spring?

I see he didn't add the root tag file that setup disk is looking for "cdrom_ip.5 & cdrom_nt.5".
The disk lable has nothing to do with it.
You can install from the harddrive
It should look like this
d:\cdrom_ip.5
d:\cdrom_nt.5
open notepad type "ENMJRH" save as cdrom_ip.5
& do the same for cdrom_nt.5
d:\i386 "folder & it sub folder"
