Acer USB Scanner 640U With Windows 2000

This is a discussion about Acer USB Scanner 640U With Windows 2000 in the Windows Hardware category; I have a problem with the Acer 640U scanner. Saw that many here ahd the same problem some time ago, so maybe you have solved it (?). Well the thing is that the scanner is found and is working according to the device manager, but when i try to scan it only says scanner not found and check power and cables.

I have that the drivers I got off the acer us page did not function right. I downloaded the drivers from the taiwan page which has a link in the hardware section of this page and everything worked fine.

First, remove the previous drivers, including the corresponding oem.inf (make sure you don't delete the wrong one) file in the WINNT/inf directory. Then, unplug the scanner from the computer. Reboot. Then install the new Win 2000 drivers from Acer's website. Then power down the computer. Re-attach the scanner and power it on. Then power up the computer. The scanner should be recognized and the drivers should work now. That's how I got mine to work.

Good luck,

Bob
