ALI Aladdin V AGP Driver for Windows 2K (and Geforce cards)
This is a discussion about ALI Aladdin V AGP Driver for Windows 2K (and Geforce cards) in the Windows Hardware category; I need a driver for Windows 2K to my AGP slot. I am having problems with my Geforce card. It crashes Windows randomly. I solved the problem on Win 98 with a updated AGP Driver. The driver is only for Windows 98 and below.

Visiting CeBIT 2 weeks ago, i have found out the folowing:
- ALI is aware of this problem and they will post drivers as soon as they're finished on their website...pretty cheesy answer!
- More encouraging responses came from Gigabyte (I have a GA5-AX Rev4 mobo - Ali Alladin V chipset): they said the problem is due to the voltage supply unit on the mobo that provides current to the AGP bus. They showed me a small object next to the AGP bus saying that if it's getting too hot and you notice that the system crashes frequently, you should place a cooling fan (!?) on it... they have been testing this problem for a long time now, and are aware of the real problem that the Alladin V chipset has. They will also post any fixes/drivers on their website as soon as they figure it out! So for all of us with an Alladin V + TNT combo, tough luck with W2K, or switch to Win9x!! All of you who wanna buy a Socket7 mobo and a TNT, DO NOT even think about Alladin V... (dammit, why didn't I do this myself earlier )

Thank you for the information. I will await the situation.
I have tried to e-mail ALI, but with no success.

I have been in contact with ALI for some time. The drivers apartly are done or are close to be done. They are aware of the issue and have told customers that have a Nvidia cards to use version 3.66 of the drivers. The drivers that are higher than 3.66 have agp enabled which makes w2k crash. If you are having frequent crashes, I recommend downloading the v3.66 drivers from http://www.3dchipset.com
Ali Web site is http://www.acerlabs.com/
just thought someone can use the link its kinda hard to find

My friend Esquire,

I have a Leadtek S320V low/middle range gfx card and are running Win2000. When I use Internet Explorer after a while the computer crashes. When I lower the graphic acceleration in the screen properties it works.
Is it these problems with the Gigabyte/ALI board with the lack of proper AGP drivers you are all taking about?

I've just try to raise VIO voltage of my P5A mobo from 3.5V to 3.8V. The results are SUPERB by now.
I can now play Unreal Tournament and Quake III.
Anything else?
I'll try 3.6V tomorrow
