Anyone have NFS4 working with 3D accel?
This is a discussion about Anyone have NFS4 working with 3D accel? in the Windows Games category; I went throught the process of getting NFS4 installed and everything worked just great, but when I go into 3D setup I can only select the Software Renderer. WTF? I've got an SLI and TNT which work just great for every other game I've thrown at them under 2k.

Here is the same reply i posted in another topic:
You can get it into D3D mode if you follow the directions for the nfs4 demo:
Quote:To play the game in Direct3D do the follow:1. You'll need to have Need for Speed III installed on your computer (ie.Win98 partition) or your Need for Speed III CD handy for this to work.
2. Make a backup of the 3DData.dat file in the x:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes Demodsetup directory.
3. Replace the files in the x:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes Demodsetup directory with the ones in your NFS3 Installation or your NFS3 CD.
4. Replace the 3DData.dat file with the backup you made in step 2.
5. Run 3D Device Setup, and choose "Direct3D Device 1". You'll get some error message about this being untested, ignore it.
6. Run the demo.
I have those files from nfs3, but I don't have server space. If someone wants to host the needed files let me know here and i will email them to you.

OP
I can get those files from my friend who has NFS3, but will they work for Glide too? I always run it in Glide.
I don't know if it works with glide... I don't have a voodoo board. I doubt it, but I guess all you can do is try it. If not, just do d3d, as it will still be better than software rendering.
OK, I'm missing out on everything here. I followed the instructions to install NFSHS, but when I get to finding setwin95.cmd and image.cfg off the win2k CD... I can't find either. Can someone help me finding these files? I too run a Voodoo3 and would like to run the game in glide mode... do you guys think that EA will release a patch for it? I read on their site some crap about how they will leave us in the water, but will take in our used copies for new ones that we can return...I think thats bull****. Someone please help me install the damn game, plus add their two cents.
SetWin95 is not on the win2k cd.... you can get it here:
