AOE II
This is a discussion about AOE II in the Windows Games category; Greetings, Was looking over the Games Compatibility listing and noticed that Age of Empires II was listed. Picked up the game, but can't seem to get it working. I am currently running the DX5NT patch & SETDX6 (although Im not sure if it is set up correctly).

Was looking over the Games Compatibility listing and noticed that Age of Empires II was listed. Picked up the game, but can't seem to get it working. I am currently running the DX5NT patch & SETDX6 (although Im not sure if it is set up correctly). When I try to launch the game I get the "Must have DX 6.1a or better error message). Any suggestions? Anyone running this game?

Install Sp 6 or just directplay 6.1, then it should, at least it does for me, but i dont have the dx5 and dx6.1 **** installed!

Thanks!!! Installed the Direct Play 6.1 off the AOE II CD and all is fine now! Something to give thanks for!!!

SP6 doesn't contain any dx upgrades (dp is a part of dx)... so you have to install from the AOE, thought I'd just mention this is somebody else tries to install SP6 instead of dp6.1...
hum, strange because i made new install of nt4 with sp6 and when i run aoe 2 it worked at once! with sp 5 i had that it asks for dx6.1! But not with with Sp6!
