Asus V3800 Ultra Deluxe

This is a discussion about Asus V3800 Ultra Deluxe in the Windows Hardware category; I cannot get my Asus V3800 Ultra Deluxe to even give me video in NT 4. 0 server. The screen just goes black whenever I boot into it. I can boot into vga mode then install the drivers and then reboot and the screen will just go black once it comes to the logon screen.

I can get it to give me video in win2k(opengl doesn't work) yet in NT4.0 i have tried the asus drivers from the cd, beta drivers from the website and even the nvidia detonator drivers and they all do the same thing. Anybody know what could be causing this?

Thanks,

The problem is that your video card is setting its default resolution at it's highest refresh rate, which probably is out of range of your monitor. I see this allthe time at work with NT4, as the HP monitors we use go "Black" when a unknowing user sets his resolution to look at a picture or something. The fix is to go into vga-only mode (safe mode with W2K) and manually set something like 800x600 or 640x480 and 60 Hz refresh and then reboot into normal mode.

Remember, test all modes before applying them, it saves a lot of headaches.
