Att: All Nv GTS owners using windowsXP!!!!!!!!!!
This is a discussion about Att: All Nv GTS owners using windowsXP!!!!!!!!!! in the Windows Hardware category; Ok so yesterday I downloaded the new 10. 80 win2k nvidia driver, and also the VIA 4. 05b apg drivers. All i can say is WOW!!! I nearly fell off my chair (literally) when i loaded up Counter Strike. Normally under win2k SP1 i would get about 30-40FPS at 1280 resolution using a Prophet2 64.

Under winME i got around 50-65 depending on map etc. Ok so in winXP 2428 build, i get 72fps, but whats amazing is the colour vibrancy compared to anything ive seen. Even my flat mate who didnt know i installed new drivers noticed the colours where much better- like going from 16 to 32bit. But really what amazed me was the fact that the fps counter just sat at 72fps, only once dipping lower in 2hrs of intense gaming.
Im not sure if its just the new drivers, or if the VIA apg helped, but just use these two together & let the good times roll
WinXP is definately the best OS to date from Microsoft

let it be known that yet another person as finally broke the barrier and admitted to the obvious that XP is the best OS to date.
Your right, I have also used 10.80 drivers, big difference from 9x or 2000.

When I tried the 10.80's today and tried to play counter strike it said that my card didn't support openGL so I switched back to my 7.52's

When I tried the 1080 drivers in XP it would take somewhere between 1 to 2 mins before the start button did anything plus I noticed my DX games were running slower. Also Quake 3 and UT freeze up the OS on me after a couple mins of play (no it's not heat) with any version of vid drivers. Right now I'm using the suggested ones off of WinUpdate. Maybe I should toss on one of those Via 4in1 drivers in here? I was thinking of it but I heard some horror stories
Are you guys able to change the refreshrate?
When I try to use NVrefreshratefix it can't recognize the videocard. And if I try to change the refreshrate myself in the inf file of the drivers, the computer wont boot after restart. Playing in 60Hz is out of the question

I can here with 10.80 det drivers
the only way to change the refresh rate is to change it manually in the registry or to have a copy of the nvrefresh settings from 2k available in a .reg file.
