Can't get nvidia 3.53 to work
This is a discussion about Can't get nvidia 3.53 to work in the Windows Hardware category; I have installed latest DX-7, 3. 53 ref drivers, etc over and over again to no avail. Pent-Pro 200, 128Meg, Viper 550, RC2. After installation I never see any registry entries for NVIDIA CORP. anywhere in the registry.

After installation I never see any registry entries for NVIDIA CORP. anywhere in the registry. I do see entries for "nv4" in HKLM.SYSTEM.CurrentControl.Services.nv4.
Also, the "advanced" tab for display settings properties only shows "General", "Adapter", Monitor", Troubleshooting", and "Color Management". There are no specific NVIDIA tabs or anything having to do with D3D, etc.
What am I missing????
Thanks for any help I can get,

What is the problem?? Does it work when you play games etc?? if yes then it's working. Extra tabs are not what this driver is all about. Check you DXdiag and see if you have acceleration enabled. If so she worked

OP
Thanks for the response Ekstreme, dxdiag says it worked. However, frame rates on Warbirds are in the 10-20 fps, whereas in Win98 they run in the 40-60 range. The reason I mentioned the registry settings is that I have seen several references to putting in new keys to get to the adjustment tabs in the setup dialog (for example, "NVTweak", "EnableVBlankWait","CoolBits", etc). I don't have any registry keys that even look close to what is usually mentioned. Thus, I thought it didn't install properly. I guess if it's working I'll just have to learn to live with low frame rates, <sigh>.
I think it is strange that I am the only one reporting no NVIDIA Corp keys in the registry (or am I?). BTW, I am build 2128.

Hmm well to set your mind at ease, the only reference I have in my registry to Nvidia is what shows up under the listing for the adapter type. I have the DV 770 and just isntalled the 3.5 or whatever TnT2 drivers. They work great, but still there is room for improvement. We might just have to wait for the next build
FYI i couldn't get the "coolbits" reg hack to work either.
Anybody got this working?

As far as i have seen there are no drivers with extra tabs in win2k. I hope they do something about that because i sure want to oc the card without needing powerstrip.
I've been mulling this over, and I think that we won't see any "official" drivers with an overclock facility.
NT is (and always has been) about stability first and foremost. Overclocking is completely contrary to this goal - it pushes the hardware beyond its design limits - and I can't believe MS will sanction drivers that support this.
You'll have to live with PowerStrip after all...
