are you showing in the Device Manager com 3 & 4 ?.
I had to upgrade my mobo BIOS to a newer version (ASUS P2B-LS) to get the COM ports to work correctly ... just an idea.
I see Comm 1,2,3,4 and they all have "?" mark. Also I can't access my modem. It is on the Comm 4 IRQ 3, Win2k says "can't open com port" Basicaly suggesting that I don't have a free comm port . Win98 has no problem dealing with the setup.. Just 2000 has problem.
Igor is modem Harware modem or software modem ?.
Try this Igor
Remove all com from the device manager power down "hardware modem" maunel set the jumper to COM1 IRQ4 & disable all com in the BIOS before booting back in to Win2K.
"PnP modem" you have set the com port in the device manager.
