D3D, DA and S3 Video Cards

This is a discussion about D3D, DA and S3 Video Cards in the Windows Hardware category; I have for the past 5 days been looking into solution to get DirectAnimimation and Direct3D to work using an S3 Virge GX/2 4MB AGP card. These issues arose after installing RC2 both as an upgrade and then as a clean install.

I have for the past 5 days been looking into solution to get DirectAnimimation and Direct3D to work using an S3 Virge GX/2 4MB AGP card.

These issues arose after installing RC2 both as an upgrade and then as a clean install. I have used the troubleshooter to disable different aspects of DirectX, but to no avail. I was successful however in limiting the wierd mouse trails left behind the mouse cursor as it waved across the screen in some software, but when it was moved over a 3D plain or an animation plain a trail of mouse "droppings" were left.

Today I have swapped video cards to a PCI Cirrus Logic 5446 2MB video cards which has the exact same results (I am searching the Creative Labs/Cirrus Logic sites for some further help as I write this) mouse "droppings" all over the screen.

I have looked through all the TNT related posts, and it seems that this could be the way to go as I am looking at a new video card for the systems.

I think at this stage I have tried about everything that I can think of, even going through the registry did not offer much of a help, and perhaps even some that was overkill for a problem like this.

Any ideas?
