Is Adaptec trying to force people into using EasyCD since it appears that the DirectCD patch cannot be installed without EasyCD also being present?!
 
I'd like to use DirectCD 3 but I'm stuck with 2.5 because I dont want to use EasyCD... I prefer Winoncd for burning CD-Rs.
 
Is there any way around this?

Problems installing those CD-R/W adaptec drivers or another drivers read [CAREFULLY] here :
 
Make first a system state backup with the backup wizard here
 
Start, programs, accesories, system tools, backup.
 
The size of the system state backup will range about 203Mbytes, so make sure you choose
the right hard disk partition, if want make another backup or you are so bold to compress it now,
you will have no more access to it just when you need it the most, after is all set compressed is about 87Mbytes.
 
Just in case some serious accident come out, remember I have been trained on NT accidents ;-P ,
then fire up the regedit in the run menu for easy access, and find three or more keys of file protection to shut it
down, if you dont know how keep reading, if not your file protection will be zeroing the new files size causing a big kernel crash,
yeah it's even "blue of death" screen the thing. You must be on administrator access to do this.

Now you can install that adaptec software, be sure if is the EZCD 3.5b or earlier to upgrade to 3.5c
BEFORE making a reboot as the install program asks, say no !!!. If you dont, I dont want to hear about it....
