Do you see any benefit in ....
This is a discussion about Do you see any benefit in .... in the Windows Games category; Running a dual boot for WIN2k and WIN ME? I have win2k now, wondering if some games will run better /quicker/smoother in win me over win2k. Just curious if I should get a dual boot going, or if that is just a waste of space.

i havent even installed my pretty new asus mx in win98..i read that most games are pretty similar..i have a similar setup as you..so i wouldnt bother..why would you need maybe 5 fps more? =)
As the last post said.
Don't bother dual booting your system unless you have some older games you just can't loose.
Any game/application released from now on should be Windows2000 compatible.
I've had to loose Carmageddon2, but with Carmageddon TDR2000 now less than a week away I'm happy to loose this.
Performance in games is very similar between Win9x & Win2000, some games seem to prefere Windows 2000 (Ultima On-Line for example plays so much better in Win2k than Win98)

I created a dual-boot on my system to play games in Win98SE, but I never use it. SP1 even fixed the mouse problem in AvP so I use W2K for everything now.
I want to use a generic TV tunner card that has not Win2000 drivers I gess I'll need dual boot right?
i actually installed the deton. 6.18 drivers yesterday on my win9x setup..and got less fps (2 or so) than in win2k
