I recently had a bad experience with my Sound Blaster Live (value). I was running the (official) leaked beta win2k drivers for weeks. After installing Winamp 2.61 ALL!! my mp3s played distorted. I uninstalled winamp, liveware, and uninstalled the device and tried to get the original driver which come with 2000 to work...no go.. heck! After all this, sound was gone all together!!! So I went back to my 98se partition, the problem was there too!!! &$&^$!! Couldn't make anything of it. So finally, to fix this I had to take the card out and place in another free PCI slot. Does anyone know what may have happened? My theory is the card itself had to be reset somehow. Could have I avoided this with some nifty registry editing? The released drivers from Creative are installed and work fine.
