DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
This is a discussion about DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in the Windows Hardware category; i always get the error driver_power_state_failure when i try to shut down my win2k or go into hibernate. i tried also a 'setup', but nothing has changed. i know that it's not there when i do a fresh install, just that i had win2k up for 10 days now, and i really dont remember what i did / install / whatever.

my system:

win2k prof
tekram scsi controller
brother printer
must be related to some application, like installing old nero would prevent from going into hibernate.

dost thou possess a SCSI Zip drive from Iomega? I was getting this for a while. Believe it or not, it seemed to make a difference whether I had a disk in the Zip drive or not, whether this bug occurred. It only happened at shutdown, and only after installing the new Iomega software. Now, I could be dreaming, but keeping the disk out of the Zip drive when I shutdown, ended the error for me. Good luck.

OP
dont have such a zip drive this error is driving me mad. i'm now looking for 6 hours on the net for it...
however,thanks for your fast reply!

I have the same problem, but it only happens when my Logitech Quickcam Pro is connected to my USB port as there are no Win2k Drivers that I know if
Hmmm...I just recently removed the IBM CS430 USB camera (also no drivers) as well. Perhaps it was not th Zip drive! Do you have any USB devices attached without proper/working drivers. My Zip drive works fine now, with or without a disk in the drive, so perhaps it is the camera/USB after all.

OP
i only got the ms intellimouse on my usb-port. i tried using it as p2/2 device, but it did not solve the problem. still this $%&%$$!! bluescreen.
is there any tool which checks for non-microsoft .dll's? it might be that when i installed some old software it replaced a win2k system dll with an old one. but otherwise - i did setup.exe again and choosed to upgrade to win2k (from win2k ) - the error is still the same.

Try disable APM support (in Power options, not in Bios), also you might need to disable ACPI function in BIOS if above not working. This helped me.
