HI there..

I'm very happy with W2K BUT.......
I've got a toshiba DVD-ROM drive (6x)
and a 3dfx voodoo banshee. The performance
in win98se is perfect, everything is running smoothly but in W2K it's the oposid, it's like 10 frames/s or less. I don't like it at all. I'm using PowerDVD. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've also noticed the 3dfx drivers ar far away from "normal". Glide games won't run, and resolutions above 640x480 in games.............. neh.

Can anyone help ??? SBlive! rulezz in w2k

My system:
soltek mainboard, BX chipset, intel celeron 266@412 !!! 3dfx voodoo banshee, 128 mb ram.

Well, that's the bad side of a newly released OS. Manufacturers choose either to wait for the official release in order to start developing new drivers, or some work already on beta drivers for beta versions of the OS. On the other hand, some don't give a ****... Nvidia and Ali are definitely some of the latter, we just have to wait for them to get their act together to release damn stable drivers.
I don't know where 3dFx stands right now, I used to have a Voodoo2, now I have a TNT2 and as a conclusion I moved back to Win98... judge for yourself...

And by the way, I don't really like that hyper overclocked Celeron...it might be a problem, too...

I know about the overclocking part with W2K that it can cause some problems.
I also moved back to win98
for a simple reason...
No or unstable drivers for W2K.
Let's hope in a few weeks or months
it will be different.

Hey dude, how about YEARS??? Just saw an article on Tomshardware dated June '99 addressing the AlladinV - TNT/TNT2 problems. Do you see any FINAL STABLE drivers anywhere????

So they know about all the problems...
we are "forced" to use win98. it's not fair.
Miro.. they only releas driver 3.0 for pctv cards but when you BUY the card, you get 3.5 and at the moment or very soon I'm sure that when you BUY the pctv you will het version 4.0 that fully support W2K.
that's Miro / Pinnacle systems.
So you are also back at win98

Yep, back with ol'Win98...I can run my 3D Revelators fine, I have new ELSA drivers for my TNT2, AGP patches, etc...let's see how long it lasts before I'll switch to Linux
