Occassionally, when I load MS Excel 2000 my CPU usage shoots to 100% and stays there. Everytime I click on something, it just drags the item and anything else I have clicked on aimlessly round the screen. The only way to get round this is to end the task. I then have to restart my system to use Excel successfully.

This combines with another problem where my mouse just fails to click on anything. The mouse pointer will move around the screen but will not click on anything. To overcome this I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL, go into task manager and then everything runs normally.

I'm using a Microsoft Mouse on COM1. Any ideas?
