Explorer.exe constantly maxing out CPU

This is a discussion about Explorer.exe constantly maxing out CPU in the Customization Tweaking category; Almost every few minutes, CPU usage in the task manager goes to 100% & the system freezes up for several seconds. . . on shutdown, the 'Ending Task' window pops up, trying to end Explorer. exe Any thoughts ? This is on XP Pro build 2600 Corp ;-) TIA.

I'm having this same problem, mine usually occurs after copying large files, mostly over the network. Only a reboot or killing explorer corrects it.
