Fixed "error, file not found on spacified decive"

This is a discussion about Fixed "error, file not found on spacified decive" in the Windows Hardware category; I fixed that terrible problem in device manager that when you install a device it gives you an error about the files not being found even thou they were found. go to the ms update thing in your start menu, and go to the history of installed devices if you have allready installed stuff, and click to reinstall everyt ...

I fixed that terrible problem in device manager that when you install a device it gives you an error about the files not being found even thou they were found.
 
go to the ms update thing in your start menu, and go to the history of installed devices if you have allready installed stuff, and click to reinstall everything or download everything except ie 5.5! that worked for me! ouwwwwch!

It works! You rock! Don't know what fixed it, but I pulled all the DL's and on re-boot... life was good again.

Excellent! It worked for me. Now I'm off the crappy Microsoft NVidia video driver. You're good. Very, very good.

Only one problem, if you want to change your video driver again... you need to do this process all over.
 
I think it has to do with the Win2000 Driver Update because the first two service packs don't do it.
 
Still trying to narrow down which patch resets the issue.

hey guys, i was going nuts because it wouldn'tinstall any device drivers for me. After reading this post, i just tried uninstalling IE 5.5 rather that going to WindowsUpdate (mainly 'cause my network card was also not installing!). Guess what? It worked out better, since now I can change drivers normally again, instead of having to do this everytime as AGMHAMMER pointed out
