Half-Life Multi-Player
This is a discussion about Half-Life Multi-Player in the Windows Games category; Any kind of HL multiplayer game I try to play (tfc, regular and CS), I have to first get into a server, then my comp messes up, and then when I go back to the same server (or another one) it works just fine.
Any kind of HL multiplayer game I try to play (tfc, regular and CS), I have to first get into a server, then my comp messes up, and then when I go back to the same server (or another one) it works just fine. After that it's ok until I exit the HL GUI. I have the latest CS and HL patches 1.10? and 6.6, but I've always had this problem since win2k was installed. I run a voodoo3 2000 oc'd to 168, with wicked GL drivers. SBLive! value w/official liveware for w2k drivers. This isn't a major gripe but since I don't have tons of ram (64) my comp takes about 10 minutes tget into a game.
Also, When in a game I hear the same sound twice, ie: my footsteps have an echo, and so do radio sounds in CS. I have the same problem with eax on and off.
wow, that was long, plz help anything would be appreciated.

First up, 64MB RAM is not tons. It's the recommended minimum to run Windows 2000. Ideally, you want to up it to at least 128MB.
Have you tried not overclocking the V3 to see if that helps? It might be speed related.
I've had a few problems with HL, but they all seem fine when I patched to the last release (prior to 1.0.1.0 or whatever it was).
Have you tried removing Half-Life, reinstalling, and then applying all of the patches again? It could be that something got screwed during patching and that's what's causing the prob.
