High CPU Util at idle?

This is a discussion about High CPU Util at idle? in the Windows Hardware category; After feeling secure w/ build 2031, I put build 2072 on my dual PII 400, ASUS P2B-D system. Now I have abnormally high CPU utilization numbers just sitting idle. Has anyone seen this or know how to fix it? I'm not using DHCP, no modem, sound, just a nic card, nothing fancy.

I'm not using DHCP, no modem, sound, just a nic card, nothing fancy. It's set up in a workgroup. Plain vanilla style.

Thanks.

Call up the Task Manager, hit the Processes tab, and click on CPU to sort by usage.

The system was as an ACPI MPS PC. I changed it to a MPS PC w/o the ACPI. I know have util rates of 0% as compared to a previous 55%. Yippy!
