High ping & low FPS in Quake 2 in Windows 2000 Pro?

This is a discussion about High ping & low FPS in Quake 2 in Windows 2000 Pro? in the Windows Games category; I am wondering why my ping is higher than in Windows 98, on the same server and ISP. Also, my FPS are poor. . . with my banshee, I get clear over 100 fps, but in Windows 2000 with the beta OpenGL ICD drivers that I downloaded from 3dfiles.

I am wondering why my ping is higher than in Windows 98, on the same server and ISP. Also, my FPS are poor...with my banshee, I get clear over 100 fps, but in Windows 2000 with the beta OpenGL ICD drivers that I downloaded from 3dfiles.com, I get choppy gameplay, but smooth gameplay in WIndows 98. I need to help to get a better ping. I have a LT Winmodem, and ping about 130 to my good servers in Win 98, but over 200 in WinY2k! *
