Try out win2kbox.8m.com for the new beta drivers from 3dfx. The only things that were hacked were ogl but that was because the beta wasnt ready yet. If you want to reinstall the originals from cd try this. Make a temp folder. search your i386 for oem*.* in the "containing text" field. I think there is only one but if theres more than one open each one until you see voodoo on top. Youll see it. Then look in the .inf for all the files it installs. ie check down towards the bottom there should be a list of files like voodoo.dll voodoo.sys. Grab all those files and put it in the temp folder with oem.inf . Then... uninstall your drivers and reboot to safe mode. Then search your winnt directory for glide*.* , voodoo*.*, and 3dfx*.*. And delete them all. Reboot. When it prompts you for new hardware point to the temp folder with the inf. Hope it helps.. Try chameleons first they will probobly work.

Oh yeah when you search in the "containing text" field you will find the files in the .cabs probobly so you will need to extract them with winzip or something.

Hi !

Sorry ! That didnt work !!
I typed oem*.* in the "containing text" field and no file was found !
Then i typed only "oem" and there were a lot of files, but which is the right one ?
I found a "driver.cab" and there is a voodoo3.dll and sys ! but these 2 files arent enough !
Please could you tell me, which file contains the information about the driverfiles for the voodoo3 ?
Or could you tell me, how these files are named and where they are ?

Sorry about my english, i usually speak german !

Thanx

Well.. thouse 2 files ARE enough. At least according to Microsoft. Remeber that they DON'T supply ANY OGL drivers and DON'T care for games. THey just cauze troubles. THey make STABLE drivers so all "dangerous" stuff is not there. That is why when u install Win2k and check the installetion youd find out that ONLY 2 files are installed. DLL & SYS.

Yes !

But I need a file with a "INF" extension !
I cant restore the original driver just with these two files ! There must be an INF-File !

Good question.. I'm not sure where the NT stores INF files... A friend of mine is currently installing win2k 2195. I'll ask him to send me the INF file if he finds it. If I get the file I'll send it to u.

For the love of Pete! Just reboot into safe mode and take the original woodoo3.dll and copy it into the \winnt\system32 dir and then copy the voodoo3.sys into the \winnt\system32\drivers dir. The reboot and there you have the original 2 files. If you want to lose any remnants of the old one, do a search for 3dfx*.* and delete everything you find below the \winnt subdir.

If you want to know where the .inf's are located, search for *.inf :):

(btw, they are in the winnt\inf subdir - lol)

DAMNED DOUBLE POSTS!!! So much for "Thank You Shrink, your post was received and you are being forwarded...", the only thing missing to make this seem like a warez board now are popups <g>.
