It's obvious. This drivers are beta, and not WHQL. I have tried both 3.xx and 5.xx series of drivers. Versions of 3.xx drivers seems more stable than 5.xx. I have the same problem under Win98 SE.
You've probably found a bug in the beta drivers - email your findings to Nvidia - they may find the information useful and might be able to provide a fix once the drivers turn to a final release.
