IIS in Professional

This is a discussion about IIS in Professional in the Windows Software category; Is it true that IIS is not in the Final Build of Win2k Professional. I know it was in RC1. IF its not will there be an option pack for it? My predicament is that I got NT Server free when I Puchased VisualStudio Enterprise, It came with BackOffice 4.

My predicament is that I got NT Server free when I Puchased VisualStudio Enterprise, It came with BackOffice 4.0. I would love to use Win2k Server, but Im not going to pay 500$.

I don't know where you got this idea, but IIS is shipped with W2K Pro.

It is not, however, installed by default. Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel, and click the third icon down on the left hand side...

Thanks YuppieScum,

Someone who has Win2k pro told me that, I guess he didnt know either. Thanks for the reply, I sure am glad I wont have to either A. Get a MSDN Professional subscription or B. Buy Win2k Server.
One more question, If I purchase the upgrade version from win nt, is it still the full version on the cd, with just the addition of version checking?

Thanks again

One thing to remember : the Workstation version of NT (including W2K Pro) are restricted to 10 concurrent incoming connections - Server and above are not.

The only difference between MS upgrade products and the full version is the additional checking code in the first part of the Setup - they are otherwise binary identical.

FWIW, MSDN Pro is worth it's weight in gold - I can't recommend it too highly if you are in any way serious about s/w development in Windows.

Thanks again for the replies,

So here is my situation, should I buy win2k for 150$ or buy MSDN Pro with my academic price of 300$, with MSDN Pro I am assuming I get all the flavors of W2K plus all the other MSDN goodies. Im leaning towards getting MSDN Pro, Since I am graduating this May, I might as well use any academic prices I can get, while I can right

Buy MSDN. No "ifs" "ands" or "buts"

Just an addendum to Yuppie's post:

If you think MSDN Pro is good, MSDN Universal is AWESOME. With Universal, you get every product that Microsoft produces - with the exception of games. EVERYTHING. I had it a few years ago and was able to purchase the MSDN Universal for $600. I still use most of the products that I received during that year. I'm just waiting a little bit longer before I go ahead and get the MSDN Universal this year.

Regards...

I guess im a little paranoid after I forked over my $200+, but the Windows versions included with MSDN are full versions, and not time fused right?

The "full version" of MSDN OSs are not time-bombed. The betas that you get will be...
