IntelliMouse Explorer won't work with USB

This is a discussion about IntelliMouse Explorer won't work with USB in the Windows Hardware category; I am trying to get my IntelliMouse Explorer to work with USB but when I plug it into the USB port it goes through its hardware detection and then says that there was an error. If I go into the device manager it shows the yellow '?' next to USB Device and under properties it says that the drivers are not installed.

I already have the Intelli Point software installed for it.

I have an Asus P5A with AMD k6/2 500. I am forced to run the mouse with the PS/2 adapter. I really want to get it working with USB so any ideas?

I would be looking at a bios update as a possible solution. You can also check out www.usbworkshop.com as a possible source of info (check out the discussions section there). I have a whole bunch of usb peripherals (including the intellimouse explorer and the MS Keyboard Pro) and they all work better in win2k than in win98.

OP
Thanks, I posted a message there so I will see if I get a reply.

I have the latest BIOS update for my Asus P5A so I don't think that would be the problem.
