Check your email. I sent you a "cleanup" utility. Follow it EXACTLY. DON'T skip ANY steps. This should help.

I've got the same problem. Every time I start my system after I installed the liveware for win2k (incl. drivers) it reboots before the log box is appearing. The only solution was to start in safe mode and to install the old drivers...

rbarbier: May you send me this 'cleanup' utility too? thanks in advance

Any other ideas why it isn't working?

Check your email. Make sure to completly uninstall everything you had previously installed with the Soundblaster live. And then try moving the card to another PCI slot just to make sure. Then when you are sure everything is "cleaned up" install the default drivers then the RELEASED drivers only.

thanks for the fast reply.
I followed the instructions written in the readme step by step, but it still doesn't work... still every time a reboot

I think I need some new bugfixed drivers from creative and unfortunately not any workaround...

Try deleting devldr32 and devcon32.dll. This should let you boot into Windows with the drivers. Then uninstall and reinstall. This helped me the first time. In your Winnt\system32. If you can't delete them then just rename them.

I don´t have that exactly probs, but I have a different one. CTLauncher won´t start. So I always have to quit it with the Task Manager. Then the system runs again.

Finally! LiveWare 2000 is working now!
Solution: I checked if the 'cleanup' batch deletes every file in its list. And yes, the cleanup batch couldn't delete one file, it was 'ctmm32.dll' in the directory: 'WINNT\system32\' .
After I deleted the file under win98 the win2k driver was working correctly and I installed the whole liveware 2000 package.
No more reboots before the "Windows is starting up" window appears!
Everthing works fine now...

Thanks goes to rbarbier

raider & rbarbier !
Sorry for not being present in the dialog (i was trying rbarbier and creative solution). At the moment, nothing work.... But i've still ctmm32.dll and sfman32.dll in my winnt\system32 directory, but i can't find the way to delete it : i use ntfs and neither my w98 nor linux can see it. And the safe mode refuse to delete it also.
What can i do ????
Please help, i'm fed up with this !!

Note to all:

If the cleanup utility you are using is named cleanup.bat and not cleanup.cmd, then it is likely my modification of the original util that I distributed. The batch file won't work within win2k because of access restrictions. You must boot from a floppy or from another OS and run the batch file. Everything should work then.

Ahhh....The evil, that is Liveware, has returned. The best, and least time consuming solution is to reinstall Win2k, I don't mean format and reinstall, simply reinstall and choose the "upgrade" method. After everything is reinstall, install liveware, I have not heard any horror stories of having to reinstall win2k, but this is how I and a few others fixed this problem.... PS , delete all that you can of the old drivers before reinstalling win2k, not sure if it helps, but it's what I did, delete registry files, there are 2 of them , named "Creative Tech",also, delete "C:/program files/creative" folder, and any suspicious dll's that start with "CT", if you want right click and view properties to make sure it is a creative file that you are deleting)

I've tried to go to the link you have posted, but it seems either geocities is down, or your page is. - Is there anywhere else I can get it?

Thanks again

attention
this problem has been solved for months now
put your win2k cd in the drive and boot off it
this will give you a recovery mode that overides win2k's anti delete thing
it uses the dos prompt and works with ntfs
just delete the two files and ctmm32 and devcon32 in system32 and reinstall the drivers
