Can the USB plug actually function as the sole means of getting the keyboard to communicate with the computer (that is, without using the PS/2 plug), or is it nothing more than a way to attach the USB hub to the computer?

Why would you need those drivers?
What extras do they add? I have a MS Natural Keyboard pro, and I have been using the software that came with it, and everything has been working 100%.

The drivers are updated, I don' know why. For me, the reason to DL and install was the speedkey program now works properly under W2K (i.e. it works now). You can access the calculator, media, etc.
