Modem & TNT
This is a discussion about Modem & TNT in the Windows Hardware category; Hi, I have just installed Win 2000 RC1 onto a computer with a 3 Com Winmodem (came in a gateway) and a Creative TNT card. I got the TNT working great with the NT4 drivers, but am looking for something with D3D support.

          Hi,

I have just installed Win 2000 RC1 onto a computer with a 3 Com Winmodem (came in a gateway) and a Creative TNT card. I got the TNT working great with the NT4 drivers, but am looking for something with D3D support. I tried the nvidia 353 and 356 drivers, but they crash the system. Anyone got ideas?

The modem:

Detected and it works, well untill the point when it comes to dialling. It starts dialling the number, then it cancels saying that the other computer didn't reply. I think this is just a simple timeout, but can't find a place to change it.

Thanks,
Brendan

In what way do the drivers fail? When do they fail?

Also, re-install as "Standard VGA", and actually delete the nv*.whatever driver files, together with the *.INF files. Then install the W2K driver.

Regarding the WinModem: Remove it from the machine. Hit it with a hammer. Cut it into quarters with an angle grinder or jig saw. Smother in gasoline. Ignite. How bury the ashes and invest in a real modem.
