Hi,

Does somebody know how to install the Microsoft Sidewinder-Software (4.0) for my MS-Gamepad PRO.

Each time I try to install this stuff I only got the message that I must have administrator-rights to install this software (Sorry I have the German Win2k and therefore I dont know exactly what "Administrator-Rechte" means in English).

But I always log in as administrator...whats wrong???

Help would be very nice

Thank you in advance!

"Give this a try"

For those of you who has W2K installed and are using SideWinder 4.0

As you may have notice, you have to be logged on as Administrator (or
equivalent) to be allowed to change the schemes for your SideWinder. As it
is strongly advise not to be log on as administrator exept for
administrating purpose (this is due to higher risk of misuse or even
possible hack) this my pose a problem.

Well, I have the solution....

Create a batch file, and add the following line to it:

runas /user:administrator "soon 40 /INTERACTIVE
control.exe joy.cpl"

The soon.exe command is part of the Ressource Kit for NT (3.5x - 4.0 - 2000)
or can be found easilly on the web.
Copy the soon.exe into the \winnt\system32 directory. All you'll have
to do is double-click the batch file - provide the Local Admin's password
and wait about 30 sec for the windows to appear. This is way faster than
having to log of f- log on.

This may also be use for other purpose....

Sorry, to bother you again...

First I would like to thank you for your great help, but I think that we have misunderstand each other!

My Problem was to INSTALL the Sidewinder-Software not to run it. I am Administrator in my system. But the install-programm means that I need Admin.-rights to install it...

Any suggestions???

Please...can you write only one answer more???

Thanks in advance, friend
