In quake 3 timedemo 1 with the following settings: 1152X864 16bit color , lightmap, geo detail med, texture about medium... I'm getting max of 48.3 fps. Is this about right? Seems slow to me... My processor holding it back ya think? If so, by how much?

yep. the processor it the thing holding it back

I just ran a series of benchmarks in Quake3...

my highest FPS in Q3A was 139, at 640x480. It's either my CPU or card holding me back there...didn't get opportunity to check it with my old 256.

Although your setting isn't one I used(1024x768 and 1280x1024, I did), I'd have averaged about 80 FPS at that setting

(I have a PIII 800eb @ 954, 256 133, 2k, 159mhz fsb. udma 100 7200, CUSL2)
