TNT+OGL+W2K=BAD GAMMA

heheh

this is the most annoying thing i've ever seen. I always thought my monitor was dark, but when i tried playing quake 3 with w2k 2072, nothing. Only the brightest parts show up. Does anyone know how to get good gamma in w2k+ogl? maybe hacking the win98 detonator display panel to work with 2000? i've tried the colorific software that came with my creative TNT, but it didnt help either. Kodak KCCM or whatever it's called, doesnt work either.
The only progress i've made is in boosting Quake 2's GL_modulate to 10 or 12. But it appears Q3 and GL quake have no such feature. (q3 because its cheating, Q1 because it didnt exist?)

anyway, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

This helped a little bit for me in q3a. Turn the brightness all the way down, and then increase it back up. Made a heck of a difference for me. You have to do this everytime you run q3a though

Go to your \q3test\demoq3 directory
and open up q3config.cfg with a text editor.
make sure the line that says
seta r_ignorehwgamma "1"
is equal to to one as shown in the above line.

Then change the line that that says:
seta r_gamma "1.6"
to the gamma you want (1.6 works great for me).

A side effect is that you can only change the gamma through the .cfg file, but once you have your settings teh way you like, you dont have to change it agian.
