network neighborhood is sooo slow in w2k

This is a discussion about network neighborhood is sooo slow in w2k in the Windows Hardware category; I and my friends have knoticed that in network neighborhood viewing others comptuers take so much longer now in win2k. does anyone know why this may be happening on cat 5 utp 10mbit/second rates. .

as far as i can remember the transfer between 2 win2k boxes were fast but the 95 box was slow. it was just extreamly slow accessing network neighborhood

your finding it very slow to find the hard drives on the other machine yeah? i bet those other machines are either win98 or win95. well becuase with me i had win2k and my friends had win9x. the actual network was peachy but it took a long while to find the hard drives (or shared folders) on the win9x machines. if you put 2 win2k machines together, super fast access!!
if i'm wrong, whoops.
