Network problems?

This is a discussion about Network problems? in the Windows Hardware category; I am running Win2000 2195 on my computer. My wife has Win98 SE on her computer. When she shares out a folder on her system I can see it, and with the correct password, I can open it and stuff like that.

I am running Win2000 2195 on my computer. My wife has Win98 SE on her computer. When she shares out a folder on her system I can see it, and with the correct password, I can open it and stuff like that. When I share out a folder on the Win2000 machine, she can see my computer on the network but cannot access it. She gets the:

"No permission to access resource" message.

I have tried to give her permissions to my computer and to the folder but it has not worked at all.

How can I make it so that she can access the shared folders on my machine?

I am new to this networking thing so any help would be great.

You need to create a user on the win2k machine that matches the name of the user that your wife logs in with when she sees the "enter network password" box that comes up when she boots up. Go to start/programs/computer management or control panel/administrative tools/computer management. There you should see a thing called users and passwords. Go there and in the actions menu, select new user and input the users name that your wife uses and the password you wish to use. Click add and then close. The go back to the win98 machine and try again using the password that you used when creating the user on the win2k machine.

It worked!! I think I was using her computer name instead of her username. DUH? It works great now though.
