Do not use that p.o.s program on any os. I strongly believe after time it slowly wrecks the registry. I have done many reformats and everytime I used that program my os seemed to turn to crap.

You people just don't know how to use Norton. It's a great program IF you do a custom install, leaving all the crap out, and using what is actually useful. I swear by Norton Utilities and have fixed countless computer problems at work. Windoctor is the best cure for Illegal Operations short of reformatting.

In my 2 monthes of using Win2k, i have not had one Illegal operation, i don't even think they exist, therefore i have no reason to use N.U. I was just stating my opinion.

I have to agree with Mr Thick"peewee" man. I love N.U. and if you keep all that other crap out from installing its great. Anybody I put computers together for, I make em buy it. My own opinion of course, its a great preventer of messed up operating systems..but take heed in the fact that any of their utilities so get a system going that can't boot aren't worth a hoot. Later

My feelings too. I have been a faithful norton user for years and it has done me wonders. As long as you do a custom install (-unerase wizard for example) youre fine. Its been there to pull me out of some pretty bat times!

Although I love Norton Utilities I think finally W2K has grown to the point where you almost don't have to buy a 3rd party utility to fix it. I remember back in my Dos 4.0 days and a program that I could not live without...was it PC Utilities 9.0 or PC TOOLS 9.0? Something like that. Anyways NOW that was a program you NEEDED...these days W2K is almost fine by itself....unless your a Tweak Freak.

I don't know if anyone's noticed but ummm....shouldn't this thread be moved? I know Norton Utilities isn't a game. (although it should be...I've spent more time with it than alot of games!!!!)

Yes agreed if you left out norton windocter from the install then I dont see how it could screw up your comp. But one thing though... Is there an nu for nt? And if not I dont think the unerase wizard will work. And I wouldnt use speeddisk. or the regtune. Somebody prove me wrong and then smack me across the head. If your looking to speed up your performance alot I recommend doing a defrag with diskkeeper for win2k. Not just a regular defrag. There is an option for boot time defrag. Cuz win2k cant defrag everything while it is running. I noticed a huge performance in my system.

The only norton I know of for NT is Norton Utilities 2.0 for NT 4.0. I have no idea if they plan a W2K ver.
