I have win2k and just run a spyware removal tool. Ad-Aware. I thought some settings may have been permanently damaged so I over installed the same OS. I still have all my original programs but now I get a message that I do not have enough memory to run certain programs. Namely add dial up connection under internet options but I can't even open folders in mycomputer. I run task manager and no programs are running and it recognizes 512mb free space. Another symptom I noticed is that I have no "Make new connection" icon in Network and Dial Up Connections in control panel? Any ideas?

Ad-Aware probably removed some values from the registry. Reinstalling W2k did not restore the registry but retained the old one. Perhaps, you could go back to a restore point prior to the ad-aware intervention.
