im using win2k compaq oem 2195, and have a philips cdrw series 400 model 404, it has always worked before, always, even though its not supported by microsoft yet. i recently installed adaptec easy cd creator 4.01, and upon installation it said that my auto insert notification was enabled and could cause some errors with easy cd, so it gave me the option to disble it, i clicked yes.. everything worked well after that ..i think after a reboot.. my cdrw drive just wont pick up any kind of cds.. i formatted and have done a clean install ..still same problem, i have been looking for the re enable auto insert but have no luck finding it .. any help will be greatly appreciated.

OP
well ..i got it fixed, to anyone that ever has this problem, go into win98 (which gives you a bit more options for hardware) and go into cdrom properties and deselect disconnect and shut down, wait a couple of minutes.. then come back into win2k ...it will now work. if not keep rebooting.

ah. thank you chameleon!
