Planescape Torment & The Sims

This is a discussion about Planescape Torment & The Sims in the Windows Games category; I was playing Planescape Torment yesterday, and all of a sudden I got a blue screen with Machine Check Exception error. I tried again and after about 10 minutes of playing, same error. Then I tried playing the SIMS, and I got about 15 minutes in and same error.

I was playing Planescape Torment yesterday, and all of a sudden I got a blue screen with "Machine Check Exception" error. I tried again and after about 10 minutes of playing, same error. Then I tried playing the SIMS, and I got about 15 minutes in and same error. I waited a day and tried today, same error after about 25 minutes. I tried rendering a movie in 3DStudioMax R3.0 today too and it kept giving me that error after about 15 frames. Can anyone help? System specs are as follows:

P3 550, Soyo SY6-BA MB, 256 megs of RAM, Voodoo 3, SB Live, Adaptec 2940 SCSI-2 Card, Yamaha 6x4x24 CD-RW. I really would love some help.

Thanks

any other cpu intensive software that creates this problem? I dont' know the solution, but perhaps i could help discover what we're looking at:
All of the progs are CPU intensive
and all of them are Graphics intensive.

But all of them work for a while before you get that crash. Possibly an overheating problem? try defragging your HD, not to defrag it, but to test if it's your hard drive that's causing the "Machine Check Error".

hope that will help some, but i doubt it.

OP
Hmmm I dunno I defragged my second drive, and had no problems. I'll try my first one though. I'd be surprised if its my HD because I had no problems on 98 doing anything I mentioned above.

Must be driver issues
