Please help just reinstalled WinXP and now cdrom not working
This is a discussion about Please help just reinstalled WinXP and now cdrom not working in the Windows Hardware category; ok I can see my CD-rw drive and run cds off it. I can see the icon for my dvd-rom but nothing will read or play in it. I know this drive works, I just reinstalled winxp with the same dvd-rom drive. If I go into Safe mode it works fine.

ok I can see my CD-rw drive and run cds off it. I can see the icon for my dvd-rom but nothing will read or play in it. I know this drive works, I just reinstalled winxp with the same dvd-rom drive. If I go into Safe mode it works fine. So it must be something loading up in windows. I tried uninstalling some programs I had installed but still no luck. Anyone?

yeah - check IRQ - use msconfig to turn off all start up items

what progs u got starting up with windows? (in your system tray)

check out

start / run / msconfig / startup - and uncehck all items, then reboot and try.

Any hardware changes when you reinstalled? Even anything minor like change master/slave settings on drive?
