poor lan performance

This is a discussion about poor lan performance in the Windows Hardware category; Has anyone else experienced really bad performance between Win2k and Win98? I have a Umax 110TX which Windows detects as Winbond W89C840-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter. . . I assume it's a driver issue because I didn't notice anything when using 98, but updated drivers from Umax didn't help.

Depending on how bad it is, turn off TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service, this helped me somewhat.
