I am encountering problem with my Plextor PX-32TS CD-ROM after I installed Windows 2000 (Final Build 2195). The drive often time will stop spinning and respins as if a CD was just newly inserted. Sometimes this problem could last for a few minutes, and it is very annoying while playing games or when I'm just trying to access some files or folders on a CD. Please help if anyone knows how to deal with it. Appreciate it!

Is it a SCSI drive? If it is, then leave a CD in it all the time, and when W2K starts, it spins once, then when it "establishes network connections" right after logon, you should have solved the problem and access the drive normally.
This crap happened to me with a SCSI2 adapter and a TEAC 55S CDR...tried all the new firmwares, BIOS for my SCSI adapter, etc...then one day i forgot a CD in the drive by mistake and after I restarted the PC, it all worked fine...
Yeah, Microsoft, figure this freakin bug out...

Yes my Plextor CD-ROM drive is a SCSI one, and well I will try the idea that you have given. I don't think this would work consistently since I believe I do leave a CD in the drive most of the time. But I will keep in mind to try that the next few times that I restart my windows. Thanks for the effort.
