Promise Ultra33 IDE controller and W2K?

This is a discussion about Promise Ultra33 IDE controller and W2K? in the Windows Hardware category; My sysetm has a Promise Ultra33 controller with two hard drives attached. I ran Microsoft's chkupgrd. exe to check my hardware and it makes no mention of this controller. But, this controller is not on Microsoft's hardware compatibility list.

But, this controller is not on Microsoft's hardware compatibility list. Nor does Promise have any drivers for W2K.

Does anyone know if it will work in W2K with the NT4 drivers?

Only one way to find out. Install the OS! I had trouble with a raid 66 card (actually an Ultra66 that I converted to a raid controller). There was a lengthy work around for it though.

It works fine, Win2K will pick it up and correctly identify it, under devices. Win2K has the drivers built in.
